STN Progress  – Step one complete!

Step one of our Six-Step Sustainability Programme leading to full sustainability certification is completed! ✅ Cavan Adventure Centre is delighted to have achieved our Foundation Accreditation as part of our sustainability goals. We’ve been working with Sustainability Tourism Network (STN) on the six step programme, which is a structured journey consisting of achievable milestones that pave the way for increased sustainability and eventual certification offering a multitude of benefits that are good for us, the environment and the local community.

Each step within the program is aligned with STN’s Globally Recognised Certification recognised certification criteria and focuses on specific pillars of sustainability. Providing a solid foundation and pathway towards achieving certification. STN 6-step programme is also aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals.

At each step of our sustainability journey, we will earn a distinctive award, (foundation level, energy & carbon, waste & water, nature & culture, people & business, Certification) symbolising our achievements and reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.  To further bolster our commitment to sustainability, these awards must be renewed every 2 years.

We endeavour to showcase our commitment to a greener, fairer and better future for our business, our community and our visitors. Our Sustainability Coordinator has published our sustainability policy and you can check that out here. However, perhaps the most interesting part of our policy from the perspective of our visitors is the main mission which is as follows:
